P.E.T.S. TO HOLD DOG WALK AND SHOW & GO
Funds
to be used for low-cost spay/neuter program
LEWISBURG,
PA – The Snyder/Union/Northumberland branch of PA P.E.T.S. will be
holding their annual Dog Walk and Show & Go on Saturday,
September 6 from 8 am to 4 pm at the Shikellamy State Park Marina in
Sunbury.
There
will be food, live music, local/regional animal rescue groups, and
vendors with animal related merchandise. All the proceeds from the
organization’s food stand and merchandise table will go towards
their low-cost spay/neuter program for low income families in the
three county area. Admission is free and there will be plenty of
parking. The public is welcome to come and enjoy all the day’s
events.
New
this year is a Show & Go event sponsored by The Central PA Dog
Training Club and The Williamsport Dog Training Club. The Show &
Go will include Obedience, Rally, Agility, and Conformation (Fun
Match Format). Registration will be from 9 am to noon with a 9:30 am
start.
Everyone
is welcome to be a part of the annual Dog Walk. This year it will be
an informal dog walk - no registration required. Dog owners are free
to walk around the park at their leisure with their dog. Those that
donate money to the organization will receive a free dog walk
bandana for their four legged friend.
The
Susquehanna Trail
Dog Training Club will be offering Therapy Dog and Canine
Good Citizen testing at the event as well. Dogs being tested
must be wearing a buckle collar or harness and owners must present
proof of current rabies
vaccination and dog license. Please call Connie Cuff at 570-286-9537

are a few vendor/organization spaces still available. Animal related
businesses or organizations can reserve a space by going to their
web site, www.papets.org, and downloading the event application to
pre-register.

LOW-COST
SPAY/NEUTER APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE AT VETERINARY OFFICES
Applications
will no longer to be taken over the phone
LEWISBURG
– To help with reaching more low-income families and individuals
with unspayed or unneutered pets, the S/U/N
branch of PA P.E.T.S. has placed applications for their low-cost
spay/neuter program at participating local veterinary offices. This
change will take effect as of January 1, 2007. Applications for the
program will no longer be taken over their toll-free phone number
which was the prior procedure for requesting assistance.
Only
families and individuals from Northumberland, Snyder, and Union
county can apply for assistance which is based upon a sliding scale
of total household gross income. Households above $35,000 do not
qualify for the program. Applicants are required to provide proof of
income for all household members as well as enclose their co-pay
along with the completed application to be mailed to PA P.E.T.S.

PA
P.E.T.S. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping
solve the pet overpopulation problem in Northumberland, Snyder, and
Union counties. By helping to finance the cost of spaying or
neutering pets of low-income individuals and families, this
volunteer-driven branch has succeeded in the sterilization over
10,471 dogs and cats. In addition to our low-cost spay and neuter
program, they also strive to educate the public on proper pet care
and other related topics.
